My first Liter bike, the legendary RC51 SP2

I named her "Monster"

Wow, I don’t even know where to begin with this one. This is my 2006 RC51. I am writing this nearly a month after I got the bike and I am still in shock. The RC51 is an amazing sport bike from Honda and I got the last model year, which makes this an SP2. I am very lucky to have found such an awesome example of this legend. She had some very questionable mods on her but my goal is to bring this amazing legendary bike back to a clean looking slightly modified factory edition bike. And I am so excited for that!

MODS

Sato Racing High Mount Exhaust

I got seriously lucky that one of the previous owners put on a Sato Racing Exhaust. This is one of the rarest and most sought after exhausts for the RC51. I’ve already gotten offers as high as $1,500 for it. But I think i’ll be keeping it 🙂

Power Commander 5

I got lucky again with this mod. The Previous owner put on a power commander (and he also did the soft limiter delete as well) this is great because now it saves me $300 on buying one myself. And because there is an aftermarket exhaust on the bike it makes sense for it to be tuned.

Proton Turn Signals

And right about here is where my luck ran out. The previous owner had these awful looking eBay turn signals. I hated them so much, luckily Proton makes an awesome turn signal option and it wasn’t too expensive either! They are extremely bright.

Upgraded Hotbodies Under Tail

The previous owner installed a hotbodies under tail kit on the bike. I actually like the looks of it but there were 2 problems… The first issue was that there was no license plate lights. The second issue was that these lights were not bright enough. Luckily I was able to modify the taillight to be MUCH brighter and much safer. I even made a video on how to do it.

Healtech Gear Indicator

So far all my bikes have gear indicators (besides the KTM’s). I love being able to look down and see exactly what gear I am in. Call it laziness, or whatever, but it’s just something I always liked to have and it’s a must have for any of my street bikes.

Pitbull Swingarm Spools

The previous owner installed some anodized swingarm spools which were all scratched up (big reason why you don’t buy anodized spools). Also the bolts were rusted out already (cheap ebay set) so I went ahead and replaced them with some high quality Pitbull Delrin Swingarm spools. These are nice and wide, sturdy, and scratch resistant.

Pazzo Levers

Another previous owner special. I actually like these levers… the gold doesn’t look terrible and the full length levers are actually really nice to pull in. But I think I will still replace these with some ASV levers. They’ll do the trick for now though.

Woodcraft Bar Ends

The previous owner had these gold anodized bar ends which matched the levers, but they were all scratched up and looked terrible. I went ahead and replaced them with a more OEM looking flat black bar end. These are high quality pieces and look amazing.

Windshield

Hoping to buy a MRA windshield soon once they come back in stock. The current one is a chrome plastic and it looks bad.
