Do you have a passion for motorcycles that you cannot contain? Do you love speed and the sound of a Ducati Panigales’ screaming engine as it roars past you on the track? Does the mere thought of saddling up on your bike and starting the engine make you feel like an amateur Valentino Rossi? If any of the following is true, then you’ve come to the right place.
Not only can you get your fix of motorcycles by binge watching every single video on Herorr’s YouTube channel, and riding your own bike; which you flaunt to all your friends as the fastest piece of machinery with wheels they’ve ever seen, but you can now enjoy the untameable freedom of bikes by simply reading a variety of articles about them and checking out pictures of Herorr’s personal collection of bikes.
Now I could easily go on a rant as to why you NEED a bike, if you don’t already have one, but I think an introduction of myself is more suitable.
My name is Tyler, I’m 22 years old, and I’m addicted to speed. Not that kind of speed. But seriously, I am obsessed with motorcycles and anything to do with them. Just as many other thrill seeking motorcycle loving adrenaline junkies, my passion for bikes (sportbikes specifically) grew immensely when I started watching motovloggers on YouTube. The crisp skillful editing, close calls with cagers, and endless rambling on while cruising on the ole’ two wheeled steed made me want to start a motovlogging channel of my own.
Would I be as successful as the big name motovloggers such as Herorr, Snowcat, DankWheelie, or Suburban Delinquent? Probably not, but darn it I would have fun doing it. The first step was to get a bike and learn how to use the dang thing. As a college student still living at home, I had to conquer the greatest challenge and barrier preventing me from getting a bike. You guessed it, my motorcycle hating mom who believed fervently that the second I sat on a motorcycle I would be obliterated to pieces in a fiery crash.
Against all odds however, I won the battle of motorcycle wanting son vs two wheeled despising crazy mom. At 20 years old, I purchased my first bike; a 2014 SE Ninja 300 w/ABS. Given my lack of experience, I deemed it necessary to start on a smaller engine bike. Had I even a minute of riding experience under my belt, and the money of course, I would have found myself proudly buying a BMW S1000RR. Because the faster the bike, the more fun right? Well sorta, but I wasn’t quite ready to prove my moms concerns right.
I would master and tame my noob-like Ninja 300 and eventually graduate to a 600CC. Did I scour the internet and every motovlogging channel in hopes of answering the age old question of whether you should start on a 600 or 300? I sure did. And I came to the conclusion that you could do either, but ultimately for me, it came down to riding experience and ability. My experience was non-existent, and my ability to control any two wheeled beast, questionable.
I would eventually grow tired of my bikes limited capabilities and be overwhelmed by an itching desire for more power and more speed. But that’s not the point. The iconic Ninja 300 by Kawasaki was my first bike and will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s the bike that only further fueled my love for bikes and allowed me to recreate the knee dragging cornering seen in the MotoGP. (Sure I felt like a miniature #46, but my knee was definitely no where near dragging on the asphalt) Ponder these questions and relive the excitement that first sparked your love for riding fast motorcycles. Do you remember what it was like when you bought your first bike? And what was the bike that took over every fiber of your reckless being upon turning the ignition and hearing that idling rumble of the engine?
